EDI Enhances Self-Expression at McLean Hospital

“Love and Pain” was created and shared by a young man being treated at McLean Hospital who had recently experienced his first psychotic episode. In the words of the McLean clinical director, “This individual did a remarkable job describing the conflict of still seeing his healthy self, but now covered by the pain of such intrusive symptoms.”

This image provides a striking example of how EDI enables the expression of complex emotions and experiences that are frequently inaccessible through words. This level of expression is often an essential component for the effective treatment of psychiatric illness.
